We are pleased to present keynote speaker Lara Joseph and a short presentation by Todd Driggers, DVM. Both speakers will offer great educational opportunities you won’t want to miss. During the afternoon the birds will be eager to see you. Self-guided tours of the outdoor enclosures will offer you plenty of time to meet, or reacquaint yourself with your favorite Oasis residents, and mingle with Oasis staff and parrot lovers from around the country. A silent auction will be held, offering many items you will love! Bid throughout the day for the end of day auction closing.

Lara Joseph has had a lifelong interest in communications and the care of animals under human care. Lara lives in Ohio where she owns and operates The Animal Behavior Center, an animal behavior and training facility based on teaching people how to train, force-free through empowering the animal and creating strong, reliable, trust-building relationships using positive reinforcement and applications in behavior analysis. Lara is a professional member of the Animal Behavior Management Alliance and the International Association of Avian Trainers and Educators. She writes many articles for a number of journals, is a blogger and writes for several periodicals on behavior. Lara has traveled the country giving lectures and presentations to a number of professional organizations and offers webinars and education for all animal caretakers.

Dr. Todd Driggers grew up in rural Indiana where loving animals and providing medical care for them became his passion. Dr. Driggers was admitted to the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine after just two years of undergraduate study at Purdue. Science, biology, and eventually medicine have been combined in his career as a practitioner of exotic animal medicine and surgery. After graduating, he began working exclusively with exotic animals and eventually moved to Arizona, where he started an exotic practice that eventually became “The Avian and Exotic Animal Clinic of Arizona”. Dr. Driggers is involved in many extra-job activities including his work as the medical coordinator for medical mission trips to the Dominican Republic through Food for the Hungry. He is president of The Oasis Sanctuary board and is their staff veterinarian. Additionally, he is on the social media committee for the Association of Avian Veterinarians.
