After years of searching, in September 2000 The Oasis Sanctuary realized a primary dream by acquiring and moving to a 71-acre parcel of land in the small community of Cascabel, located near the town of Benson in Southeastern Arizona. The temperate climate allows the healthy and able-bodied birds in our flock to be outdoors year round. The land contains a 21-acre non-productive pecan orchard. The deciduous trees provide a canopy of shade during the summer months and allow sunlight in winter. Birds with special needs and those who require more human interaction are kept indoors in our 1300 square foot bird building.
Visitation
Thank you for your interest in visiting The Oasis. To comply with the Animal Welfare Act and exceed its standards for USDA licensing, we are undertaking a complete renovation of our aviaries. Tours are paused until further notice, and the project is expected to continue into 2026. Rest assured, the birds remain safe and well cared for throughout this process.
While tours are paused, you can still stay connected—follow us on social media or sign up for our newsletter for updates, behind-the-scenes stories, and project milestones.
