The Second Segment of the New Animal Rescue Site Challenge for 2012 began April 9, 2012.

This voting ends at midnight (PT) on June 17, 2012. While we didn't take first place, we did win $1000 as the Weekly winner in Week 6 of the last challenge. But we'd like to make the most of this chance for The Oasis to win! The more friends you can rally to vote for The Oasis, the better our chances of winning. Every vote, every day counts - shelters can pull ahead even during the last few days with enough support. Get people involved! The Oasis is counting on you! Authentic Feathers Molted by Alex

The Winner is DAVID CHULJIAN!

Dr. Irene Pepperberg’s work with Alex over the span of 30 years is legendary.  Known as one of the most famous African Grey parrots in history, Alex pioneered new avenues in avian intelligence.

Alex’s passing in September 2007 was a huge loss to all of us that know our birds are smarter than the world gives them credit for, and leaves a void in the entire bird community.

These earrings and others like them, made by Lara Gordon from authentic feathers molted by Alex during his lifetime, were sold by the Alex Foundation.  Although they are not one-of-a-kind, the winner of our raffle will have a priceless piece of history from a bird who was a pioneer in the avian community.

A Video Crew from "Supreme Master Television" came out to visit The Oasis Sanctuary and video our facility, the birds and staff.

Supreme Master Television is an organization which focuses on helping to create a Peaceful World and features various segments about the Human-Animal bond. The founder, Supreme Master Ching Hai has written a book "The Birds in My Life" and has a very special relationship with Parrots herself.
