The Oasis Sanctuary needs the following:

 

We still are seeking a serviceable and/or repairable single or double-wide home to be used for employee housing. As the Oasis grows, we need to increase the number of care-giving Staff members. As we are in a very rural location, there are no “rentals” available anywhere close to us and we therefore provide housing for our Staff. Often, obtaining a nice used manufactured home is the single most expensive part of hiring new people. Can you help? Oasis will raise the funds for installation and may be able to pay for transport within 500+/- miles, which includes most of California, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico and Texas. More equipment and structures we truly need:

  • Retail Gift Cards. Home Improvement, Wal-Mart, Office Supply, Amazon.com, etc. For purchase of operating, maintenance, building and office supplies.
  • Small backhoe for digging larger areas such as aviary foundations.
  • A Walk-in cooler. The small one we have is working fine, but is not large enough to handle the weekly supply of produce for the 700 birds in residence!
  • A Construction-type trailer and/or Metal building for renovation and use as another bird building.
  • T-posts and Fencing Materials
  • Cage/Aviary building supplies such as weld-wire, steel or iron for welding the panels, metal roofing.

Additionally, there are items we use every day for the birds:

  • Toys, particularly large wooden toys and various swings for the big, more destructive birds.
  • Treats such as millet spray; roasted in-the-shell pistachios, human grade roasted unsalted peanuts and other in-the-shell human grade nuts, in particular almonds and walnuts. Note: we are dealing with very large numbers of birds so a minimum 5 pound bag or larger is recommended for cost efficiency.
  • Bath towels (new or used) – we use these on the bottom of the disabled birds’ cages to give them a cushioned surface to stand on. Large towels are needed at this time. We have a sufficient supply of small hand towels and wash clothes for the smaller birds.
  • Newspapers for use in cage cleaning. If you are coming to visit and are driving, a collection of clean newspaper is always very much appreciated.
  • Grill Brush with Scraper – Short handled, single sided brush preferred. We use these to clean perches, cages, and other cage materials.
