I don't get here very often, but I wish we could be more active - all of us. Bird people are the best people in the world.

Sonia Kovitz added a new comment in blog A Surprise Visit from Flat Sta...I love the story about Flat Stanley's visit to the sanctuary! I hope the student from Connecticut grows up continuing to love and care for birds.

Sonia Kovitz added a new comment in blog Farewell Beloved Ozzie...Thank you for writing this, Sybil. I am just now reading it. It speaks to me, as everything at the Oasis Sanctuary does. I understand about saying goodbye -- anyone who loves animals understands.

Another Oasis Foster is coming back to us, too! We took care of Victoria, a Yellow Naped Amazon for the summer. She isn't doing so well again, so she's coming back to spend the winter with us. I plan to introduce her to another chronically ill Amazon, Jose, a Blue Front. I hope they will enjoy each other.

Tom & I have had the pleasure of housing two Oasis birds for a week while one is recuperating from illness. Brutus is a middle aged Scarlet macaw female who has been a life companion and protector to her baby boy, Doc. Doc is a hybrid and his dad was a B&G macaw. Doc hatched with significant birth defects. While his body is crippled, his spirit is exuberant. What a treat it is to serve these two.
